Class Descriptions

Mixed Age (0-5 with adult)

Mixed age classes are the heart of Music Together®. Children birth through five years old along with parents and/or caregivers come together to create a musical community. Each child has the opportunity to be where they are in their own development. Adults, regardless of musical ability, can help create an environment that helps children achieve basic music competence. Children of mixed ages participate at their own level by singing, moving, chanting, listening and exploring with musical instruments.

Babies Class

Although the educational value of our mixed-age class format is indisputable, new parents can gain added value by joining classes specially designed for their newborn babies (8 months of age or younger). With the mentoring of an experienced Music Together teacher, parents learn how to interact musically with their new babies and support their natural, inborn capacity for music.

Not only do musical bonds develop between parents and their babies, community bonds often develop between class participants as they begin their new and exciting journeys together. Parents who enroll in Babies classes often reenroll for many years and become wonderful Music Together ambassadors!

Music Together Sing Shalom

The weekly parent-child music classes combine everything you love about the internationally recognized Music Together early childhood music education program with a carefully selected collection of familiar (and not-so familiar) Jewish songs from throughout the world. Music Together Sing Shalom classes introduce Jewish themes, holidays, and celebrate community through song, supporting parents and caregivers in introducing their children to a diverse, culturally rich Jewish heritage.

Music Together Sing Shalom classes are offered in partnership with local Music Together centers and are an exclusive offering of Music Together in collaboration with The Jewish Education Project. Funding for this pilot initiative is provided by UJA-Federation of New York. Check often to see if a class is coming to a community near you!
